Outcomes

The main outcomes for this project are:

Improve habitat condition by restoring the natural hydrology of the area and reforesting burnt areas.
Decrease the incidence and risk of fires by restoring the forest’s natural hydrology and strengthening collaboration within our network of firefighters.
Improved public health through eliminating fires.
Help with more sustainable local livelihoods via paludiculture.

We hope this project will strengthen land management strategies, including the designation of Village Forests to reduce deforestation, alleviate poverty, and enable biodiversity recovery.
We hope this project can be scaled up to include habitat restoration initiatives in other areas.
